7.01 Dan Daly
Jan 07 10 - 11:47 am
Not sure if there's a point in starting a thread, but I thought I'd do it for old times' sake.

Great relationship episode. I guess Sean pretty much will forgive Christian anything--from fathering his son with Julia to sabotaging his shot at Harvard. Wow. Now that's love. I loved Christian's misguided attempt to buy Sean what he thought he wanted, with the award.

Young Christian was remarkable in resemblance and acting. Young Sean I didn't buy quite as much, maybe because I didn't see the physical resemblance as sharply. Both those guys did good jobs.

So Christian and Kimber get married and they don't show us? And Christian married her...why, exactly? He doesn't seem to like her that much, and he's screwing around as much as ever.

Patient case was unsettling, vintage N/T type stuff.

Candy, it's about time you're back, thank goodness! I don't normally post, but I always enjoyed reading your week by week analysis. Thanks for finding the motivation to post again for other readers, non-posters like myself.

I was right there with you on Christian's marriage.. thinking, what the heck, they're husband and wife now!? Last I recalled was the two of them slipping off to a threesome with the female barbie patient. It's the Apocrypha between seasons I guess. Wonder if Matt was in the wedding..

I was bothered somewhat with how they had Sean handle the patient, post-op. Though Sean's character has been through a lifetime of recent drama, I still can't see him being so careless. He would have been well educated/informed on the patient's condition, and to not only unshackle him but then hand him a glass mirror.. you know that Sean, in his right mind, would never do that. Even Sean, in his current state of mind, would not be that careless.

While at the award presentation, I was anticipating a conversation to taking place between Sean and the professor that failed him for the duplicate paper.. but that didn't happen.

Also.. sheesh, that young Julia was smokin', can't blame Sean for falling hard for her. it's funny because we've seen video footage of college age Sean, Christian & Julia before.. but it was the regular actors. I recall them watching an old black & white video tape where they were high in college and discussing their future goals..

Generally, I really liked this episode. There was no Matt or Julia, it was all about Christian and Sean, which I liked. I wondered though if maybe the writers wrote the whole "Christian/Sean past college days" maybe a little too late in the show. Maybe they should have explored their past maybe in an earlier season. It seemed a little out of the blue, just kind of "thrown" in there.

I didn't like the patient self-mutilation though (I almost couldn't watch it) it was pretty disturbing to me since I know someone that used to cut themselves so that was pretty hard for me to watch. I really didn't see the relevancy of the whole patient theme of the self-mutilation until the end though, then it made sense to me.

There were many hilarious parts that I loved. I loved the dorm room scene where Christian and Sean reminised about the scoreboard on the bed. Also the bong scene/strip poker scene was funny too.....Christian was so funny in those parts.

The plane scene with the flight attendant was funny too, Christian asking her for ice, that cracked me up. LMAO! What were you thinking Sean when you went to the bathroom with that woman though, the outcome of that him getting into trouble was predictable LOL LMAO
Funny how once I had written a scene quite similar in the bathroom of a plane in one of my fanfics--it was just with a different character LOL

I wasn't sure what to expect with the first episode of these last 9 but this episode was pretty good. I am nervous about the remaining 8 though.

Oh, did I say I liked Christian's barefeet?

I must admit though I need to see a steamy sex scene seeing Christian's bare backside. All his sex scenes this season he's been fully clothed. I hope we see one before the end of the final 9 epi's

LOl, Lori! I totally thought of your fanfic and sex scene during Sean and that woman in
the airplane bathroom!

I liked yours much better.

I would have loved to see Sean and Christian's college days MUCH earlier in previous seasons.
Also, I think Murphy totally missed the boat by not including Julia so much in the flashback. Her
character was almost like an afterthought, when in reality Julia was an essential part of the three of them
in college.

WTF? Sean wanted to go to Harvard, but couldn't because he felt trapped by Christian?

That was totally thrown in there with no basis.

Remember in S1 and 2, Sean was dating Julia in college and then she became pregnant.
Sean wouldn't have left Miami because of Julia not Christian.

I wish TPTB would familiarize themselves with the history of the show and the characters more.
The fans most surely would call them on it.

The rest of the show seemed pretty predictible to me: I could see Christian bribing a bigwig to
get that award miles away: Besides, Sean gave up his dream about helping others as a doctor when
he moved to LA and did the H&S show.

They usually don't give prestigious awards to doctors who do that.

I have this sickening feeling that N/T is going to screw up what made N/T great in the
first place: The realationship between C&S.

I don't see why they have to totally basterdize the characters to do this.

I thought it was a pretty good episode. The focus solely on Sean and Christian was good. It was good too that the finally found the thing which Sean could no longer tolerate and it will be a race to see whether their relationship is completely destroyed or whether they can work it out in the next 8 episodes. Those who saw the preview know that Sean will be engaging in activities that will really get to Christian soon, as if Sean is now really a ticking time bomb to destroy their relationship altogether.

I don't get the Kimber/Christian thing. I know they will always have feelings for each other but there are too many issues between them for it to ever work. It was clear he'd start screwing around after 5 seconds.

I thought the airplane scene was funny because that's how it usually is, Christian does risky, bad things and usually gets away with it. When Sean tries to do something naughty/bad, he kind of falls on his face. It was interesting in this episode when Sean was blaming Christian for alll of the things wrong in his life when we have one immediate example of Sean showing bad judgement and fucking things up for himself.

The one thing I thought was so weird: um, just episodes ago, wasn't Christian on the verge of bankruptcy as was the practice, yet suddenly he can send a $200,000 check over to the med school? Or maybe that's party why he had such financial problems?

I think the patient was kind of a metaphor for everybody on this show. They all try to do different things and behave differently but it always comes back to their basic nature. It is actually intriguing though to see whether they will be able to resolve this or not in the 8 episodes that remain. There were some pictures taken of the final episode which kind of reveal the direction of things, if you want to look for them.

Well, but in a way I think that is what is interesting. In a way, I always knew this would happen. One day Christian would just go too far and it would all catch up with him. His irresponsible behavior could cause them to lose the practice or somehow get Sean or one of his kids killed. I think they now have reached a point when Sean has to say whether he can live with all of this or not. The award was something that got smashed and will go away but Sean's whole point in life is integrity and Christian made that seem like a joke to him. Knowing how the show works, I would guess there will be no happy endings but no horrible tragedies. They will probably gather around the table for Chinese food when it's all over.

I have to say, Ryan Murphy and crew did me a HUGE favor before the finale, they have made me completely sick of Christian.

Last season...or is it the first part of this season...okay...the past 5 or so episodes that just aired a few weeks ago, really redeemed N/T for me. Unfortunately, it also made me find a new hatred for Christian that has really hung in there. Anyway, I was pretty confident that this season would start off strong since they made these eppys originally back to back. But, it was just okay for me. I really liked the plane scene and flashbacks, but other than that, it was just okay.

lmao! Loving, you remembered lol
thanks for your really nice compliment on the scene I had written.

I laughed where they played the "We Belong" Song too, I had used that song in my Christian and Sean "Bang A Gong" Story LMAO! And the scene where Christian sat in the chair and had his feet up in stirrups, spread wide apart looked like something out of an LKraemer fanfic too-I had him in a "position" like that once in one of my stories too LOL

I'll be sad if Christian and Sean break their friendship. I think all the glass shattering was a foreshadow of events to come.....their friendship will likely shatter to pieces-I see it coming. At the very end of this episode, you could tell Sean was throwing a big dig at Christian.

Hi Lori!

I totally remembered! And I laughed my ass off too. Even the part where Christian was sprawled out
getting his vascetomy too! I totally recalled that part of your story too.

My God, Sean is a doc of all trades, isn't he? He totally does all specialties--no referrals, no
waiting. LOL.

Oh God, I totally see it coming too Lori. I am afraid RM's going to make it seem like the C&S
relationship was all a lie or deception.

You can so tell because the writing is so STILTED now to make Sean the "hero". It's so
bloody unballanced. I agree with NTL (as usual) that for a while now, the writers have been
doing their damdest to make the veiwers feel a hatred for the character of Christian.

Unfortunately they have to rewrite the character and history of the show to do it, and
it not only does not ring true, it looks like sloppy writing on their part: as if they don't
go back to other episodes and check their facts.

For a while now, the writers have totally been making Christian the villian with no redeaming qualties.
And they are rewriting events, character history, and everything else to suit their purposes.

Case and point: The Sean wanted to go to Harvard thing was just thrown in there specifically for this
episode with nothing that had alluded to it in the past.

In Rose and Raven they told us that in college C&S were solidly friends. Yet in this
episode, in the flashbacks, I didn't believe that for one second. It was all Christian being a leech, and Sean
resenting him.

In the ORIGINAL history of S&C in college, Sean was dating Julia and he stayed because
of her and she became pregnant.

Nice detail for the writers to leave out or rewrite.

And speaking of rewrites, when the hell did Chrisitan not ever want children?
His prime motivation was always to have a family of his own that he could love.

In previous episodes he made bitchy remarks about Wilbur and Jenna.

When did this happen?

Now the Christian from Joel Gideon suffered and struggled with being forced to
give up baby Wilbur because of the court. Being a father opened up his heart and
it was even mentioned he was the one who loved W unconditionally.

I think the writers just decided to "omit" that part of Christian to make him
seem more like a bastard, because they think this new direction of the show is
better.

Too much from Sean's POV. It has been ever since the LA move.

I can only hope this is mental problem of Sean's: Something related to his hallucinations
maybe.

Welcome back,NTL, Candy and everyone!

Hi Loving. LMAO! about Christian being sprawled out like in my fanfic! LOL Too funny!

Oh God! I hope that the whole friendship of Christian and Sean won't be like that! I'm keeping my toes and fingers crossed that doesn't happen!

I agree with you about Christian not wanting children.....it seemed so out-of-character!

Yup, things have gotten ugly between those two in the past but they have always forgiven each other. Maybe not forgotten things, but definitely forgave and moved on as friends.

But I fear the worst now

This was a great episode...but I can't believe everybody is glossing over the shocking scene with Sean joining the mile high club. That was like one of the funniest things I've ever seen on the show! I was rolling on the floor! How embarrasing for Sean!!!!
But ya, this was a good one. I agree that the younger versions of Sean, Christian and Julia were spot on. The young Sean didn't really look like Sean, but I don't think it really mattered.
I was so sad when Sean was destroying the award in the beginning, but when we later found out Christian basically bought it, I wasn't so sad anymore.
I for one cannot wait to see Sean finally get revenge on Christian. I can't wait to see him with Kimber, and I really can't wait to see Escobar come back...it's gonna be a good season!
I'm so glad you guys are all back...I think niptuckforum is all gone now

Hi there!

I have to say I wasn't really surprised at all to find out that Christian bought that
award.

I mean, did Sean think they really deserved it? First of all, his character went from
wanting to do pro bono work with Doctors without Borders, and then in S4 his character did
a total 180 and he decided to leave Miami and work (not with Doctors Without Borders) but he went
to work in LA of all places!

Then he decided he liked being famous as a consultant for an idiotic TV show.

The hilarious part about it was that Sean actually thought the award was real, and that
he deserved it for being such a humanitarian.

It was actually kind of rediculous.

The airport scene really did make me laugh though. Especially when he was found out.
