nychen [admin's] thoughts3x14 Cherry Peck3x15 Quentin Costa 12.20.2005 who's disappointed? well by now, the season finale for season3 has aired and i'm a bit disappointed. yes...about who the carver is, about the whole goddamn carver plot in fact. anyone find it funny that kit showed up without any scars? that kimber was found looking less than '10' but christian managed to fix her up in less than 10 minutes airtime and she was back to her usual '8' or '10' self! wow how time flies on tv...and how nothing on tv is permanent, especially those carver scars. geez, i was really hoping the show would be daring enough to snap off one of sean's thumbs, instead his pinky is cut. damn. geez, i was really hoping that the carver was going to be someone we havent seen in awhile, like bobolit...heck, at one moment i was even thinking gina when jessalyn gissig's credits showed up at the beginning of the show. damn. geez, i was really hoping that this show would leave scars, instead it's left a really disappointing yet nice eyecandy for me. disappointing in not leaving a mark. if beauty is a curse, it seems it's a temporary one at that...looks like all was forgiven and forgotten at the end of the season finale episode. i hope that season 5 does NOT mention the carver at all...frankly i'm over it - it was overblown and underwhelming at the reveal. sure i enjoy both actors rhona mitra and bruno campos, both gorgeous and love the accents...both did well with their roles, but the writing wasn't there in the end. no it wasn't exactly predictable, but the whole bait and switch and brother/sister and fakeouts have been used many many times in tv/movies. it's frankly not original. and one thing i've been expecting from creator ryan murphy for this season over the carver plot, is originality. damn. i guess with carver everywhere, even on that goddamn annoying myspace, i had my usual non-expectations higher than normal. i avoided all spoilers and never read into the carver forums, frankly all that bores me to tears. i watch the show because i'm a fan, because i'm entertained by it, because it's a great mind tease and eyecandy. well i do feel teased and eyecandied...but i'm left feeling 'bleh'. inserting gina into the end plot seemed like hole in the plot that needed plugging to make it more obvious that kit and quentin were working together...it seemed like a last minute script write-in. i guess it's always easier to have 20/20 hindsight but damn, it seemed the episode was obviously trying to be too clever. i'm smart enough to know that liz would never be the carver, that it would never have been sean or christian, or that matt would even be a suspect. all that was a given...but please, to dumb all the shit of the carver on the first prime suspect quentin and then try to divert it and then plot in kit with her terrible detective skills, i dont get it. is she a real detective or what? at least that nun-picture of her and quentin was nice. they do look gorgeous together...maybe they will act together in something else one day? i'll watch. as for the whole scenerio of sean and christian being captured by the carver, and the whole scenerio of matt and cherry peck being captured by ariel's father...nicely shot and cut together on film, but really kind of comical and goofy. did you really think matt would kill cherry, or that christian would really end up with his hand cut off? no...the show didn't go far enough. disappointing. i'm sure next season, sean's finger will be healed and he'll be back in the operating room in no time. and where was liz? i was hoping she would return to the operating room to see sean and christian being 'carved' but it was gina with her present excuse. eh, highly disappointed...this season is not going to be good on dvd unless i skip all the carver episodes. i'm going to have to go back to viewing season2. ava's still the best character...damn she didnt show up...she's out making the glorious "X3" out in 2006. PS. gotta make a comment on the inserted movie preview for creator ryan murphy's movie "Running with Scissors"...i like the cast of annette bening, alec baldwin and evan rachel wood [and others]...all 3 do great work, looks to be a dark comedy. this is the movie that's busied murphy from "Nip/Tuck" during season3, so hopefully it's worth it.
